Voice For Locals · Shopper app · United Kingdom

Terms of Use

Effective 29 September 2026. These terms explain how you may use the Voice For Locals shopper app. The contract for the service, payments, and loyalty points is in the Terms and Conditions. Personal information is covered by the Privacy Policy.

1. The licence we give you

Unloc Ltd gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the shopper app on phones you own or control, in line with these terms and the rules of Google Play or the Apple App Store. You do not buy the app software. We, and our licensors, own the app, the Voice For Locals name and logo, and the content we supply.

You may not copy the app except as needed to use it, rent it, sell it, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or try to get around its security. You may not scrape listings, points, or reviews, or use the app to build a competing database.

2. Store rules

If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google’s terms also apply to that download. If you downloaded it from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for these terms. They are third-party beneficiaries of this licence only so far as their store terms require, and they have no duty to provide support for the app. Support is from us at support@voiceforlocals.co.uk.

The app may be used to pay a local business for real-world goods and services. That is not a purchase of digital content from us, and it is not billed by Apple or Google. Loyalty points are promotional and are described in the Terms and Conditions.

3. Keep your account safe

Use your own mobile number, Google account, or Apple ID. Do not share one-time codes. Do not create an account for someone else without their authority. One person should not keep several accounts in order to farm referral points or rewards.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may remove content, refuse points, reverse a referral, or suspend an account that breaks this section. If we believe a law has been broken, we may report it.

5. Your reviews and campaign answers

You keep ownership of the words and ratings you submit. You give Unloc Ltd a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and share them with the business concerned and with other shoppers for as long as the review stays on the service, and to keep a limited copy where the Privacy Policy says we must. This licence ends when the content is removed, except for copies we need for a complaint, fraud check, or legal claim.

Campaign answers are used only for that campaign and the loyalty programme, as described when you submit them.

We do not undertake to monitor every review in advance. If you see content that is unlawful or that breaks these terms, email support@voiceforlocals.co.uk with the business name, the date if you have it, and what is wrong. We will review genuine reports and remove content that we agree breaks these terms or the law. There is no separate in-app block control for other shoppers, because reviews are tied to a business rather than to a public social profile.

6. Device permissions

The app asks only for permissions a feature needs:

Refusing a permission limits only the feature that needs it. The app does not request permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

7. Other people’s services

Payments are handled by Stripe. Sign-in and notifications may use Google or Apple. A local business is responsible for its own premises, prices, and offers. Those third parties have their own terms. A link or a QR code does not mean we control that business.

8. If you break these terms

We will usually warn you before suspending an account, unless a warning would weaken security, help fraud, or break a legal duty. You may delete your account as described on the delete your account page. Suspension does not affect a payment already made to a business, and it does not remove statutory rights.

9. Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the law of England and Wales, in the same way as the Terms and Conditions. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep any mandatory protection of the law where you live.
