1. Introduction
These Terms of Use ("Terms of Use") set out the rules governing conduct when using the Voice For Locals Business mobile application (the "App") and related services provided by Voice For Locals ("Voice For Locals", "VFL", "we", "our", or "us").
These Terms of Use supplement our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. By using the App, you agree to comply with these Terms of Use on behalf of yourself and the business you represent.
2. About Voice For Locals

3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App lawfully, professionally, and in a manner consistent with its purpose as a business platform for managing local customer engagement, loyalty, payments, and campaigns.
You must not use the App in any way that violates applicable law, harms consumers, damages the Voice For Locals platform, or infringes third-party rights.
4. Business Account Conduct
4.1 Authorised Representatives
Only persons with authority to act on behalf of the business may register and manage the primary business account. You must not impersonate another business or register a business you are not authorised to represent.
4.2 Accurate Business Information
You must maintain accurate business profiles, including address, opening hours, contact details, and registration information. Misleading business listings may constitute a breach and expose you to regulatory action.
4.3 Verification Integrity
You must not provide false Companies House details, fabricated NI numbers, or fraudulent Google Business Profile links. Verification information must reflect the genuine legal entity operating the business.
5. AI-Generated Content
5.1 Review Before Publish
The App provides AI image generation for promotional materials. You must review all AI-generated content before publishing it in rewards, campaigns, vouchers, or public business profiles.
You must verify that published content:
- Accurately represents your offer and business
- Does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights
- Complies with UK advertising standards and consumer protection law
- Is not misleading, offensive, or discriminatory
5.2 No Unreviewed Automation
You must not configure workflows that publish AI-generated content automatically without human review, except where you accept full responsibility for all published output.
5.3 Prompt Conduct
Text prompts submitted for AI generation must not request unlawful, harmful, or infringing content. We may restrict access to AI features for misuse.
6. Campaigns and Marketing
6.1 No Misleading Campaigns
Campaigns, rewards, and vouchers must:
- State terms clearly (discount value, validity period, exclusions, minimum spend)
- Be capable of honourable fulfilment at point of sale
- Not use bait-and-switch tactics or hidden conditions
- Comply with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and applicable advertising codes
6.2 Audience Targeting
Audience targeting must not be used to unlawfully discriminate. Targeting based on ethnicity, homelessness status, or other sensitive attributes must comply with equality legislation and platform policies.
6.3 Campaign Modifications
You must promptly update or withdraw campaigns that have become inaccurate due to stock shortages, pricing changes, or operational constraints.
7. Consumer Reviews
7.1 Display Rules
Consumer reviews displayed on your dashboard and public profile are submitted by shoppers through the Shoppers App. You must not:
- Post fake reviews or ratings on your own business
- Incentivise reviews in a manner that compromises honesty (except standard loyalty programme participation offered equally)
- Pressure consumers to remove or amend honest negative reviews
- Retaliate against consumers for lawful reviews
7.2 Responses
Where the platform allows business responses to reviews, responses must be professional and must not contain harassment, defamation, or personal attacks.
7.3 Reporting Abuse
Report suspected fake or abusive consumer reviews to support@voiceforlocals.co.uk. We will review reports but do not guarantee removal.
8. Vouchers and QR Redemption
8.1 Voucher Terms Accuracy
Voucher QR codes must correspond to accurate, current offer terms. Staff and till assistants must be trained to honour valid redemptions consistent with stated terms.
8.2 No Manipulation
You must not:
- Alter voucher terms after issuance without clear communication and platform-supported mechanisms
- Refuse valid redemptions recorded through the App without legitimate reason
- Manually override scan outcomes to defraud consumers or the platform
8.3 Scanning Conduct
QR scanning must occur at legitimate point-of-sale or redemption contexts. Scanning vouchers without providing the corresponding benefit constitutes fraud.
9. Till Assistants
9.1 Authorisation
Business owners are responsible for inviting only trusted, authorised till assistants and revoking access promptly when employment ends.
9.2 Assistant Conduct
Till assistants must:
- Scan vouchers only in the course of legitimate business operations
- Not share assistant credentials or allow unauthorised persons to use their accounts
- Report suspected voucher fraud or system errors to the business owner
9.3 Audit Logs
Assistant scanning activity is logged. Business owners must cooperate with investigations into suspected misuse.
10. Partner Conduct
When using partner search or cross-promotion features:
- Partner arrangements must be lawful and transparent to consumers
- You must not use partner features to spam, mislead, or harvest consumer data
- Disputes between partner businesses must not involve abusive conduct on the platform
Voice For Locals is not responsible for resolving partner disputes.
11. Payments and Stripe Connect
11.1 Compliance
You must comply with Stripe Connect terms, card network rules, and applicable financial regulations. Prohibited activities include money laundering, processing for unauthorised businesses, and circumventing Stripe risk controls.
11.2 Consumer Transactions
You must deliver goods and services as described and handle consumer payment disputes in good faith. Platform payment records are not a substitute for your own customer service obligations.
11.3 Clover Integration
Clover-connected accounts must be used only for legitimate reconciliation of your own business transactions. You must not sync or manipulate data to inflate loyalty metrics or misrepresent sales.
12. Consumer Data Handling
Where you access consumer personal information through redemption reports, review dashboards, or exports:

By submitting business content, you grant Voice For Locals a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute your business content for operating, promoting, and improving the platform, including public business profiles visible to shoppers.
